What is Vibromuscular Harmonisation Technique (VHT)?
In a nutshell VHT is a non-invasive, non-diagnostic, non-manipulative soft tissue bodywork which uses a simple yet specific move, in a set pattern to address the whole body. VHT works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level for any and every body.
VHT is carried out over clothing so there will be no need to undress, thus ensuring the Client's dignity at all times.
Before a session Jo will ask a variety of questions to assess your issues and needs.
There are three sections to a session:
Who should have VHT?
Absolutely anyone and everyone should consider VHT!
For example it is suitable for young people to support their physical and emotional needs; Older people or those with known issues would benefit to help ease those aches and pains following years of work, injury or bad postural habits; Office dwellers and couch potatoes would find VHT useful to help alleviate postural bad habits and repetitive strain issues; Athletes would need VHT to assist performance, reduce the likelihood of injury, and improve recovery times; and ladies may benefit from VHT throughout their pregnancy and after giving birth.
When can somebody not have VHT?
VHT is carried out whilst the Client is fully clothed, however Jo works without gloves on so those with contagious skin conditions or other contagious ailments may not be able to be worked on. Some moves also carry contraindications for pregnant ladies so Jo should be made aware of any pregnancy before the session.
What to do prior to an VHT session?
If you are unsure whether you should be having VHT alongside other therapeutic modalities, or are under treatment for any particular condition, please feel free to consult your Doctor first. Jo is more than happy to discuss VHT with other health professionals should you wish to give them her number if you have any concerns.
For the session please wear loose fitting clothing such as those worn for yoga. Denim jeans and thick garments are not so easy to work or feel through and may reduce the overall impact and enjoyment of the session.
What to do following an VHT session?
You should ensure you have a good supply of clean, fresh water. You may drink more as VHT can have a strong detoxifying effect, having stimulated the circulatory and lymphatic systems. You may initially feel a little stiff, or overly well in the days immediately following a session as the body realigns itself. This should pass without issue, however if you are at all worried give Jo a call.
How much does a session cost?
VHT sessions are none-chargable whilst Jo is training.

- Jo will assess your current posture and positional habits, and will probably ask more questions. this may be carried out either standing, seated, or laying down on the couch.
- Jo will then carry out a Body Balance address, placing a set pattern of moves over the body.
- Depending on Jo’s findings throughout the session so far, and the body’s reactions to the session, Jo will then place further moves over areas of concern.
